It's Dying to Know Day 2020!
As Gentle Readers are aware, August 8th is the day dedicated to death literacy and having important conversations about advance planning, wishes, preferences, and quality of care and life at end of life.
Unlike previous years, I am not participating in multiple events on D2KDay itself. Instead, I launched a fully online, comprehensive and inclusive, evidence-based End of Life Consultant training course which went live for student payment and full enrolment yesterday. This is part of my ongoing commitment to community-building and dignity at end of life and in dying.
I am hosting an event with Rebecca Lyons of You n' Taboo on Facebook next Saturday the 15th from 11-1pm, you can book a place in this free event here, as the entire month of August is now a part of D2KDay. In this unique event, you the participants set the agenda - ask us questions and we will give you the answers: what are YOU dying to know?? If you don't want to speak up live at the event (some of us don't and that is OK!), then please email me the question at: email@example.com and we will answer it live for you during the event.
And don't forget - if you would like to know how to better support those around you in improving death literacy and/or gaining expert end of life work skills you can enrol in the GDEP End of Life Consultant training course here: gdep.teachable.com
If you are wondering why advance planning and other important conversations need to take place, watch a video made by a then-resident doctor who has been in the unenviable position of having to prolong life because someone's wishes were not made clear.
Happy D2KDay and have your Important Conversations now!
